Client Testimonial

"Pet Sitters of America gives me peace of mind that my babies will be given the same attention and care that I provide for them myself. For someone who travels a lot, that assurance is priceless... Thanks!"

Our Promise

"We never forget how important our clients are nor do we run out of love for the pets we are in charge of."

Employment Opportunities

We may be looking for pet sitters in your area. Our ideal pet sitters are stay-at-home parents, retirees and people that want to make some extra cash. If you are a stay-at-home parent you can take your child or children with you when you pet sit.

Here's why we're a great company to work with:

  • We provide a flexible job where you can set your own hours.
  • We care about the people that work for us.
  • We are professional.
  • We are nice people to work for.
  • We love animals and that's why we're in this business.
  • The pay is good and the tips from clients are good too.
  • We only hire optimistic, friendly, kind-hearted people so if you are that type of person you are in good company.
  • When you work for PSA you are also supporting Animal Education and Rescue, a non-profit humane society. Isn't that a cool bonus?

Here's what we need people to do:

  1. Come and go from client's homes up to four times a day. (That could be morning, lunchtime, dinnertime and around 9 p.m.) AND/OR
  2. Walk dogs during the middle of the day when people are working AND/OR
  3. Stay overnight in client's homes with their pets when they are traveling.

Here is some important information you should know before applying:

  • Most often we need pet sitters who live within 15 minutes of the Libertyville area.
  • Less often but sometimes we need sitters in towns a little farther.
  • We don't service Zion, North Chicago, Fox Lake or Wauconda. Just not enough business in those areas.
  • The times of day you would be pet sitting are flexible. What that means is if you have to walk a dog three times a day and the client wants 7 a.m., 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. you have an hour leeway each visit. The time doesn't have to be exact.
  • If you want an entire day off pet sitting on an ongoing weekly basis that makes it tough to give you work.
  • If you would like time off for vacationing or whatever just let us know, no problem.
  • We are busiest around holidays, in the summer and spring break.
  • Because you are an independent contractor you can deduct gas and mileage from your taxes each year.
  • Rarely does this type of work lead to a full time job but during busy times and if you have been pet sitting for a while you can make some seriously good money if you want to.
  • The longer you pet sit the more clients you receive and potentially the more money you can make.
  • We can never predict when a client or clients will need service if they use our service for when they travel.
  • If you want to walk dogs at lunch time on a regular basis that is pretty predicable because the client knows in advance when they need you.

Some other technical stuff:

  • On average you would spend 20 minutes at the client's home.
  • You would get clients that are within 10-15 minutes of your home.
  • You would start out getting paid $5.00 for 20 minutes work.
  • If you do an awesome job pet sitting about 50% of clients would tip you too.
  • After 90 days your pay would go up.

Now that you know all you do if you still think this would be a great job and you think you would fit in you can apply online now!
